Something in the Water...

Made it!

One of them mentioned this mission to us when we were having an evening with friends back  in March. I was instantly delighted and agreed on the spot.  In the end there were seven of us that accepted the challenge of undergoing an 50 km run. From March to June we met three times on the weekends to exercise for the event. We started with 10 km, then 20 km, then 35 km.  The 50 km were seen by us as the final of a joint sporting activity among  us. We just liked the idea to meet up now and then to maintain  the friendship and spend a bit time together under a completely different (and healthy at that!) aspect. Team spirit, looking after each other, motivating when one of us thought it wasn't possible at all to manage any more steps, planning our challenge together- all of this was quite binding and refreshing for the friendship as well.

Fourteen days before the challenge was appointed I was out on business in Palma de Mallorca and engaged in a two-week communications workshop. Since my hotel was in a two minutes distance and in order to prepare from there I made the beach my running route. From friends at home I received all kinds of useful information about that Saturday event...

Finally, it was the 9th of June. Day of the event.

Did I look like a poor man's Lara Croft? Admittedly, you could be right with that. Only that I was armed with water bottles and bananas...

"Cool blonde?" is to read on my water bottle. Maybe that is me if we translate it literally? In Germany, however, "Kühles Blondes" means a pint of lager.

I really really had fun and enjoyed every minute of it. Even the hard ones. I felt like myself- the myself I used to be.

Next year you'll see me there again!
